🌏 Tasmania Skilled Migration Program 2025–26
Tasmania has officially opened its 2025–26 Skilled Migration Program, inviting skilled professionals and graduates to make the island state their home.
Whether you’re already in Australia, or overseas looking to make the move down under, Tasmania has several paths to secure state nomination – a huge bonus for your points on your visa application, and also an obvious way towards permanent residency.

Receive a wage that meets local market rates and ensure the employment is genuine and ongoing
491 – Invitation-Only Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles
To apply, you must:
Receive a SkillSelect invitation
Not have lived in any other Australian state for the past 12 months
Provide evidence of research into the Tasmanian job market, including communication with employers, professional associations, and relevant job vacancies
Show financial capacity to support yourself and any dependents for at least six months

🌟 NSW Skilled Migration Program 2025–26
New South Wales (NSW), home to Australia’s largest economy and most diverse job market, has officially opened its 2025–26 Skilled Migration Program. This program offers skilled workers and graduates the chance to live, work, and study in one of Australia’s most vibrant states.
🏙️ Visa Options for Skilled Migrants:
Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa (Permanent)
The Subclass 190 Visa is a state-nominated permanent visa that allows skilled professionals to live and work anywhere in NSW.
To qualify, applicants must meet the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) general requirements:
Be under 45 years of age at the time of nomination and invitation.
Have an Expression of Interest (EOI) selected.
Be living in NSW or offshore at the time of invitation.
Have an occupation listed on the NSW Skills List.
Hold a valid skills assessment for that occupation.
Meet the points test, English, health, and character criteria.
Residency Requirements: Applicants must either:
Be working in NSW in their nominated occupation, or
Have lived in NSW continuously for at least six months, or
Have lived offshore continuously for at least six months.
🌄 Subclass 491 – Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa
For those open to exploring regional areas of NSW, the Subclass 491 Visa provides a provisional pathway to permanent residency. This visa allows you to live and work in designated regional areas for up to five years, with eligibility to apply for permanent residency after meeting specific conditions.
Applicants can qualify through one of three key pathways:
Pathway 1 – Regional NSW Employment
Must be employed in a designated regional area.
Continuous employment with the same NSW employer for at least six months.
Employment must be in the nominated or closely related occupation.
Must earn at least the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) or Comparable Skilled Income Threshold (CSIT).
Pathway 2 – Invitation by Investment NSW
Skilled in an occupation listed on the NSW Regional Skills List.
Meet the Home Affairs 491 visa eligibility criteria.
Must meet one of the following residency conditions:
Working in NSW in the nominated occupation.
Living in NSW for at least three months.
Living offshore for at least three months.
Pathway 3 – Graduate from a Regional NSW Institution
Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher completed in Regional NSW within the past two years.
Study must be closely related to your nominated occupation.
Must meet relevant residency and skills assessment criteria.
💼 Salary Concessions (TSMIT/CSIT)
To ensure fair employment conditions, NSW offers salary flexibility through two concession types:
Type 1: At least 90% of TSMIT/CSIT in monetary earnings, provided the total salary package meets award and AMSR standards.
Type 2: At least 90% of TSMIT/CSIT in cash payments, with up to 10% in non-monetary benefits (like accommodation or vehicle).
