Are you planning a short visit to Australia for work or business purposes?
Australia offers a range of short stay work visas designed for individuals who need to engage in temporary employment, attend business meetings, or participate in specific project work. These visas allow you to live and work in the country for a limited time, depending on the nature of your visit. However, it's important to understand the specific conditions and limitations attached to each visa type to ensure compliance and avoid any legal complications during your stay.
1) Subclass 400: Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa - This temporary visa lets you do short-term, highly specialised work in Australia. It is suitable if you have specialised skills, knowledge or experience not generally available in Australia. It allows you to:
Stay in Australia for up to 3 months (or up to 6 months in limited cases),
Undertake short-term, non-ongoing work,
Participate in activities related to Australia's interests.
This visa is ideal for professionals involved in special projects, emergency relief, or highly skilled work. It could be Environmental Specialist, Video Producer, Electrical Engineering Technicians for example. It is generally not suitable for ongoing work or for people seeking permanent employment in Australia.
2) Subclass 462: Work and Holiday Visa - This visa allows individuals aged 18 to 30 (inclusive) to enjoy an extended holiday in Australia while taking up short-term work to support their travel expenses.
Note: China, India and Vietnam passport holders must participate in a visa pre-application process (ballot) and be randomly selected in the ballot to apply for a first Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa.

The application cost of this visa is $650 and with this visa you can do 3 months of specified subclass 462 work to become eligible for a second Work and Holiday visa
3) Subclass 417: Working Holiday Visa - This visa is for young adults who want to holiday and work in Australia for up to 12 months.
The eligibility criteria for this visa is:
Age requirement: You must be 18 to 30 years old (or 18 to 35 for some countries like Canada, France, and Ireland).
Passport eligibility: You must hold a valid passport from an eligible country (e.g., UK, Germany, Japan, etc.).
Stay duration: Up to 12 months, with the option to apply for a second or third visa if you meet specific work requirements (e.g., regional or farm work).
Work rights: You can work in Australia, usually up to 6 months per employer, though exceptions apply in certain industries or regions.
Study rights: You can study or train for up to 4 months.
Multiple entries: You can leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you like while the visa is valid.
Additionally, the Second Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) allows you to extend your stay in Australia for another 12 months, provided you’ve completed at least 3 months of specified work (such as farm work or construction) in regional Australia during your first visa.
To qualify for the Third Working Holiday visa, you’ll need to complete 6 months of specified regional work while holding your second visa. These extensions give you the opportunity to explore more of Australia, gain diverse work experience, and make the most of your working holiday adventure.
